As good partners we empower one another in our work and lives, and hold each other accountable. We both find ourselves inspired by a career field that encourages eclectic experiences and rewards curiosity with different challenges to solve every day.
Why wouldn’t we want to do that together?
By framing our process around our learning system we keep ourselves authentically agile, emphasizing flexibility while providing a repeatable framework to fit with your process, meetings, and style of collaboration.

Of course, both Chris and Courtney are available for individual engagements. We like it best when we can pair on work but understand if it’s not a fit for your situation. As with any other topic, we’re happy to discuss this further.
We each had our motivations. Courtney knew she wanted to pivot her career towards a more creative profession, and Chris was looking for a way to make remote work more fulfilling. We both find ourselves inspired by a career field that encourages eclectic experiences and rewards curiosity with different challenges to solve every day. We’ve witnessed pairing used in the workplace for design and development roles. And now, when considering the new and more widely accepted status quo surrounding remote work, our situation offers some compelling benefits to teams looking for a designer (or two.)
Our backgrounds are unique, as is our relationship (we’re getting married in May 2021). Therefore, we’ll bring it back to a tried and true UX response, “it depends”. Pairing is how we improve our capacity for independent, not individual action. We can talk a lot about generator and synthesizer roles, how we share and organize files, or even how we decide whose turn it is to make coffee. Our process is determined by the needs of the team and project. Our specific pairing techniques will vary depending on the time and budget allocated with clear goals and expectations identified prior to starting.
We stand behind our work and have a great track record of meeting budgets and exceeding expectations. We work hard to understand your business challenges and our agile approach ensures that we deliver a complete solution and not just artifacts identified by a brief.

Chris has been remote since 2017, and in January 2019 Deux Design Co. was founded with a remote-first mentality. While remote work has proven to be the most effective and budget-conscious method we are willing to discuss the need for travel and on-site work on a case-by-case basis.
Our philosophy on budget is to create the best possible product with your resources, not extract the biggest budget possible. Our rates vary depending on project requirements and compromises. Tell us more about your challenges and available budget and we’ll do our best to accommodate. We want to build a relationship and embrace constraints as part of the innovation process.
